
Firewall Setup
The SurfSafe client needs to be able to communicate with the policing server to work.
A firewall may block this communication, so may need reconfiguring.
Quick Start information
Allow TCP traffic to 193.113.210.250 on port 2128 and port 2810
Setting up SurfSafe as a trusted site on ZoneAlarm
- Double click (left button) on the Zone Alarm icon OR access the program via Start > Programs > Zone Labs.
- Click the 'Firewall' tab on the left hand side of the Zone Alarm window.
- Click the 'Zones' tab on the top right hand side of the Zone Alarm window.
- Click the 'Add >>' button and select IP Address.
- Fill in the following details:
- Zone: Trusted
- IP address: 193.113.210.250
- Description: surfsafe
- Click OK.
- Close the Zone Alarm window.
- All done!
Setting up SurfSafe with the Windows XP firewall
- SurfSafe should install to Windows XP without a need to change any firewall settings.
- If you need to check the Windows Firewall settings after installation (via Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall),
- you should see the following two entries have been added (circled in red).

- Ensure these entries remain checked in the tick boxes on the left as shown.
What if the XP Firewall entries are not there after installation?
If the SurfSafe Client is installed and the entries are missing (see example below) then please follow these steps.
- Click 'Add Port' (circled red in above picture).
- Enter in the details shown here, for UDP port 2810.
- Click 'OK'.
- Click 'Add Port' again.
- Enter in the details shown here, for UDP port 2128.
- Click 'OK'.
- Click 'OK' in Windows Firewall window.
- All done!
